Formed in 1903 the Catholic Daughters of the Americas (CDA) is one of the oldest and largest organizations of Catholic women in the Americas. We are a national organization, with 63,000 dues-paying members in 1,150 courts (local chapters) in 45 states across the country and in Puerto Rico, Mexico, Guam and the Virgin Islands.
We provide local spirituality, sharing and activity under the support of a vibrant national organization. Members donate to charities, administer scholarship programs and strive “to be helping hands where there is pain, poverty, sorrow or sickness.” They embrace the principle of faith working through love in the promotion of justice, equality and the advancement of human rights and human dignity for all.
Our patroness is the Blessed Mother, and under her guidance members are united by their faith in Jesus Christ, in their devotion to the church and the Holy See.
Deeply spiritual, members share faith, love of God and a distinctly feminine spirituality alluded to by Pope John Paul II when he spoke of the necessity of “feminine genius” in today’s world.
Catholic Daughters worship together, pray together and help each other be the best Catholic women they can possibly be.
Their spirituality forms their actions as Catholic Daughters "strive to embrace the principle of faith working through love in the promotion of justice, equality, and the advancement of human rights and human dignity for all.
Robustly charitable, members give their time, energy, stewardship, hearts and finances to help others in the service of Christ.
Catholic Daughter women enjoy each other’s company at their monthly meetings and in their shared spiritual and charitable endeavors. They work hard for their parishes and communities.
Many speak of the satisfaction they receive when sharing “women time” together. In the photo below Nevada State Treasurer Leslie Valpiani, left, and State Regent Leonie Frisbee share a moment of relaxation in each other's company during the State Officers Convention.
And they enjoy sharing their efforts and companionship embarking on the Catholic Daughter programs that include the many concerns of today’s church and society and the well-being of women and children, including our signature program Circle of Love.
You can see below a partial list of the expansive array of activities in pursuit of the Catholic Daughter mission. In addition, click on this link to see the video below that shows the many different ways a Catholic Daughter court can contribute to its local community.
